Ries/Murphy Associates LLC (RMA) was established in 1994 to provide conflict resolution and stress management services to corporations and the public. In 2003, RMA began doing business as IADR Global to create an educational institute from the revolutionary vision of increasing mediation training and post-training support through online certificate courses. Since that time IADR Global has quickly grown into an established global provider of graduate level professional courses through dynamic partnerships such as Colorado Technical University Online’s MBA MDR program.
All of us at IADR are committed to providing the highest graduate level coursework for students interested in pursuing an education in mediation and conflict resolution. We remain dedicated to establishing a strong and vital alumni association that will support, engage, and inspire our students to the very best practices of peace making on every level of their lives.

The History of IADR

IADR was first established in 1994 as Ries Murphy Associates, LLC (RMA) by Shauna Ries and Genna Murphy as a counseling and educational company to offer psychotherapy and stress management, executive coaching, and leadership training to individuals, couples, families, and organizations. In 1997, the company shifted its focus to meet the growing demand for stress management and conflict resolution services for corporations, health care professionals, and the general public. Ries and Murphy turned their successful stress management seminar, Quality of Life, into a book that was released in 1999 by William Morrow Publishers. Over these years, the conflict resolution sections of the stress management program became the most popular training that RMA offered.

Ries and Murphy and investment partner, Linnea Carlson, soon began work on a new educational venture that would eventually become IADR. In 2003, Ries and Murphy envisioned an institute with online and onsite certificate programs that would combine with an on-site practicum to create the most comprehensive mediation education program in the country. They spent the next months consulting subject matter experts and creating engaging course materials presented in highly collaborative online classrooms. They assembled a high caliber group of faculty, contracted with a leading provider of online courseware and launched the first classes to rave reviews. Since then, IADR Global has successfully educated over 400 students who are now part of our growing alumni association.
